Accept - short stop motion
Idea
The idea of this project came from my interest towards live stop motion animation. I created a story where the sun is the main character – an artist living in today’s society. Artists are expected to get out of their bubble and show themselves, which a lot find a struggle. I capture the uneasy feeling and transition from comfort to realisation.
Making
I used paper mache and clay for the creation of both masks. The sun mask was painted with acrylic paint, and designed with cardboard elements behind. The moon mask was made fully from clay, painted with acrylic paint and glitter. Additionally, I had to dress up the space so it looks like the studio of the main character. I used my old works and sketches for the walls, including the paints and brushes all around.
Process
The process included choosing a model for the short film. I made the choice to include a second character (the moon), which is the metaphor of society and expectations. I chose the environment setting the action in the room of the sun.
End result
The filming of the scenes was a slow process, which took a lot of time for both me and the model. It was a challenge which we overcame together with patience and repeating.
